If you need some help finding technical information on your Windows computer, use these guidelines to find what you need.
Serial Number
Either look for a sticker at the bottom of your device or follow these instructions: 1) Press the Windows key and “R” simultaneously on your keyboard.
2) Type CMD in the command line (if it is not already there) press Enter and then
3) Type “wmic bios get serialnumber”. The serial number will appear in the result.

Screen Size

To measure a laptop screen size take a measuring tape and start measuring from the bottom left of the laptop screen diagonally to the top right of the laptop screen. Only measure the LCD, not the frame.
Processor type Generation and RAM (random access memory)
Type ‘About’ in the search bar of your computer and you will find all the facts about your computer so that you can complete the information for the section below.
You will see information similar to the screenshot below.
In the example, Core i7 is the processor type and 4910 identifies this as a 4th Generation processor.
The information next to Installed RAM is also information that you will need.
Hard Drive Size
Locate this information in Settings > Storage > Storage settings.
Hard drive Type
This is a little more tricky. Go to Settings, type in ‘Optimize’ and a pop-up like the example below will appear:
Click on the option circled in red above and then you will see a similar view per the screenshot below. This tells you what kind of hard drive you have on your computer.
